I was reading about glycosylated haemoglobin (HbA1c). It contains glucose linked to epsilon amino group present on lysyl residue and at the -NH2 terminal ends. The reaction is non-enzymatic. Is the lysyl residue here is similar to lysine residue? If not, care to give an explanation on that matter. I hope someone who is an expert in medical biochemistry would help me... Need this information as soon as possible. Thank you in advance!
