whats key is that this refers to anything on the golf course 'good' or 'bad'! he is telling us not to attribute one shot to another - the detachment allows one to approach each shot as the single event that it is. Without the added emotional expectations based on how great or how horrible we 'feel' a previous shot was. i.e. you are not playing a round of golf on the first tee, rather one shot, followed by another, and then another, and so on.
