Is it possible to fit a remington 700 barrel to a 798 action?

i picked up a new Remington 700 SPS 300 Win Mag Barrel from a friend on the cheap and im having trouble locating a 700 action,i can get a 798 action but i need to know what modifications are necessary to safely convert either barrel or action to fit correctly, is this possible or do i keep hunting for a 700 action?
