The problem is that desirable jobs or careers switch all the time. What is your mother's job? Is it desireable? Just a question to ask your mom. A job that is always in demand is teaching. Someone needs a teacher somewhere in the world. You eventually can work your way to over a hundred grand a year. BUT, that is only if you make it to doctorate status. If you like English, teach it. My father always told me, if you find a job you like you will never feel like you have worked a day in your life. This career is YOURS not your moms. You have to make the decision as to what you would like to do...you are going to be doing the studying, not your mom.
